24 weeks
Dom is the length of an ear of corn (12 inches) and weighs just over a pound.
Well we went to the doctor for our 24 week check up and we were fortunate enough to have another ultrasound. Most people get one, maybe two during the entire pregnancy, but between requesting additional tests and Dom not cooperating, we get at least four!!! As I just mentioned, Dom is not the most cooperative little guy in the womb. Sure when it came to the 'money shot' and determining his gender he laid his goodies out for all the world to see, but when it comes to measurements and such, he just likes to wiggle around or roll up like a roolie pollie bug! Today we went in to get some better pictures of his heart since he was moving around too much for the ultrasound tech to get a good look at it at our 20 week appointment. Well it didn't go much better this time. We were able to see his little heart beating and could even see a clear view of all four chambers (so cool), but any time the tech went to take a picture, he would roll over and curl up leaving nothing but a shot of his little spine. Maybe it was his version of peek-a-boo! Well after about 30 minutes of coaxing him back into position they were able to get the shots they needed to verify what they already knew--that his heart is healthy and strong.
I brought my mom (Grandma Russell) to this appointment so she could see the ultrasound too. The pictures really don't do it justice. There's nothing more mesmerizing than seeing our baby move around and even open and close his mouth in the womb, and it was wonderful to see the smile on my mother's face when she actually got to see the little guy for the first time! Based on some of his arm/hand movements I think he's going to be a boxer-- at least he knows how to dodge already!
24 weeks down, only 16 more to go! I can't wait to meet you!!!! Until then I will enjoy this picture of your little feet...
